hmmk...i went to that other forum where u said to post...but therez nothing there...and so i decided to post my thoughts here =) hehe newayz..
i wanted to make sure we have the same understanding of the words "literally" and "figuratively". hehe well i went to dictionary.com to see what their definition was:

Literally~ In a literal manner; word for word: translated the Greek passage literally.
In a literal or strict sense: Don't take my remarks literally. Usage Problem:
Really; actually: ?There are people in the world who literally do not know how to boil water? Used as an intensive before a figurative expression.

(hehe copy and paste [img]biggrin.gif[/img] ) newayz...thatz how i always thought that literally meant "really" or something like that. so i'm kinda confused about what ur saying..."God doesn't exist literally... merely figuratively"...i'm just trying to understand what u said =) hehe what i got from it was that God doesnt "really" exist..which then it lead me to thinking that if He doesnt 'literally' exist...then He doesnt interact w/ us either? i dunno..i'm rather confused =/ hehe oh yeah..herez the defintion for figuratively:

Figuratively ~ Based on or making use of figures of speech; metaphorical: figurative language.

thatz a nice definition but i dont know if i totally understand that or not...is it like God is "up there somewhere" but He's only a "figure" up in the sky...so He doesnt interact w/ us?

'literally' would mean to use a term in its
ACTUAL definition.

and 'figuratively' is using the term to mean
something else.. or to persuede something else.

like:

skeletons in your closet = things dead and buried
in your life... blah blah blah

there aren't LITERALLY skeletons in your closet.
(unless you are weird)

so.... with ghosts/god...

i could ask:

LITERALLY-- is there a god? (literally being
some'thing' that contains all of the properties
of a known god)
(if THATS even possible)

FIGURATIVELY-- neil diamond is a god! (metaphorically
stating that neil diamond contains similar
properties of that which we understand about
a 'god', in that neil diamond may be idolized, etc)
